Barbizon was once a simple hamlet of loggers. But in the passage of Corot, Rousseau, Millet and Diaz de la Pena, Barbizon will become between 1830 and 1870, the theater of a revolution which will modify the course of modern painting. They are nicknamed the “colorists”, the “landscapers”. They arrive on foot from Chailly to Barbizon where the Ganne couple’s hostel, which has become the meeting point, welcomes them.
