Milly La Foret

The canton of Milly La Forêt is located south of Essonne and a few kilometers from the Seine and Marne.
Composed of six municipalities in the École valley and six other municipalities in the Essonne valley, The canton of Milly La Forêt is located in the heart of the Gâtinais Français Regional Natural Park and 52 km from Paris.

Moret-sur-Loing

An atypical village. The royal square, the ramparts, the 12th century keep are proud of their medieval roots and structure the architecture of the old town of Moret Sur Loing. If the 1,356 meters of ramparts and the twenty or so turrets are no longer all there, the two gates of Burgundy and Samois and the town center urban planning bear magnificent witness to this medieval past.

Barbizon

Barbizon was once a simple hamlet of loggers. But in the passage of Corot, Rousseau, Millet and Diaz de la Pena, Barbizon will become between 1830 and 1870, the theater of a revolution which will modify the course of modern painting. They are nicknamed the “colorists”, the “landscapers”. They arrive on foot from Chailly to Barbizon where the Ganne couple’s hostel, which has become the meeting point, welcomes them. Everything delights them: the play of light in the undergrowth of the Fontainebleau forest, the dark shades of the forests of Fontainebleau forest, the ponds, the stormy skies, the variations of nature with the seasons or the day…

Vaux Le Vicomte castle

Vaux le Vicomte’s castle is the creation of three men brought together by Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of finance for Louis XIV: the landscape gardener André Le Nôtre, the architect Louis Le Vau and the painter and decorator Charles Le Brun. United by a fraternal genius, they together achieve the most perfect harmony between architecture and landscape of the entire 17th century: the Château de Vaux le Vicomte.

Fontainebleau castle

Eight centuries of French history. The Château de Fontainebleau where sovereigns have succeeded each other since the Middle Ages. Kings, Queens, Emperors and Empresss loved this Castle which they all left their mark on.
