Vaux le Vicomte’s castle is the creation of three men brought together by Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of finance for Louis XIV: the landscape gardener André Le Nôtre, the architect Louis Le Vau and the painter and decorator Charles Le Brun. United by a fraternal genius, they together achieve the most perfect harmony between architecture and landscape of the entire 17th century: the Château de Vaux le Vicomte.
From its inauguration during the famous feast of August 17, 1661, Le Château aroused the lust of the Sun King and became the model from which all of Europe was inspired.
