The Fontainebleau forest and its characteristic sandstone blocks is an internationally known place for being one of the most beautiful rock climbing sites. This discipline, Rock Climbing also known as Bouldering, is practiced on rocks of a low height not requiring, in general, no rope for insurance. Families or experienced rock climbers can choose circuits adapted to their level of difficulty

Bouldering and rock climbing sectors are spread throughout the Fontainebleau forest. Among the best known: the Cuvier, the Gorges de Franchard, the Apremont gorges, the Dame Jouanne, the Elephant, the massif of the three gables …

This requires little equipment, but there are some essential accessories: climbing shoes, the mat commonly called Crash Pad. It is a thick foam mat designed for climbing, with the aim of cushioning the possible fall of climbers.
